My Contest Activities and Operations
ARRL 10 METER CONTEST - December 8 - 9, 2007
Them band just never did open to much of anywhere. I suspect there was some Sporadic E propagation allowing me to contact TX and then GA and AL. There were a few sunspots but they did nothing for the band.
Here are my miserable results:
Contacts . . . . 27
Points . . . . . . 86
Multipliers . . . 8
Total Score . . 688
CW Country - USA (CA, TX, AL, GA)
Phone Countries - USA (CA, TX, GA)
Maybe next year !!!!!
SWEEPSTAKES 2007 - CW and SSB (November 2007)
The first (CW) part of Sweepstakes is history and this year was a personal best for me. My station consisted of an ICOM 756 Pro III barefoot to either a Butternut HF-2V for 80 and 40, and a Cushcraft R-7 for 20 and 15. Same antennas for CW this year as last. Just a change in Rig. I continue to use N3FJP Contest Software and this year I used K1EL's USB Winkeyer. It took quite a load off my CPU and I think the sending was cleaner with no hiccups from the CPU cycles. I missed a Clean Sweep on CW by two! (VO1 and VE4) I think both those areas had power failures over the weekend. I just could never hear them. I got my beam up during the SSB weekend. It sure made a big difference. Now I can't wait till next year when it is up 6o feet in the air. This year I still won't be ready for SO2R. Maybe in 2008. I have my DX Doubler and band pass filters. Still need to build the automatic switching for them. This will be much easier with my Pro III as my run radio and my Pro II as my S & P radio.
Here are some results from my CW effort:

SWEEPSTAKES 2006 - CW and SSB (November 2006)
Sweepstakes 2006 is over and I was able to operate a few hours in both modes this year. My Station for both weekends consisted of my ICOM 756 Pro II barefoot into a Butternut HF-2V vertical on 80/75 and 40, and a Cushcraft R7 vertical on 20 and 15. I did not attempt any SO2R activity this year. My SO2R plan requires my tri-band beam being up and opertional. Check out my antenna page. I'm hoping for next year. I have some pretty aggressive plans for next year if I get the tower up.
Here are some results of my Sweepstakes Operation:
CW Total QSO's - 161 - Claimed Score - 21,574 - Sections Worked - 67

CQ WW WPX CONTEST - SSB - March 24 - 25, 2007 - CW - May 26 - 27, 2007
I really don't like SSB Contests, especially with only 100 watts into vertical antennas. Once I started, I decided I wanted to make 100+ contacts. I made 103. Listed below are the details. I intend to do better in the CW Contest that will be held after I return from Dayton.
SSB Total QSO's - 103 - QSO Points - 180 - Claimed Score - 15,120 - Unique Prefixs Worked - 84
Single Operator, All Band, Low Power
Band-QSOs - %
160. . . .1 . . . 1 %

CW - I didn't participate as I had just got back from Dayton, where I picked up my new Icom 756 Pro III and I wanted to get my shack ready for it! Wait till next year.
